I got a job
Important updates about this Substack and the "Greatest of all Talk" podcast.
I’m thrilled to share good news: I’ve joined ESPN as a senior NBA writer.
I hopped on Substack in February after The Washington Post disbanded its sports section because I wanted a creative outlet while I proceeded through the job search process. For the past three months, this site certainly served that purpose, and I was delighted to see stories about moose and Lego garner as many clicks as my hoops analysis. I truly appreciate everyone who supported this project.
In light of my new position, I have suspended all paid subscriptions to this Substack. I’ll keep all the existing essays up for the time being, though I might take them down at some point in the future.
Sadly, I will also be stepping down as co-host of the “Greatest of all Talk” NBA podcast. I enjoyed every episode with Andrew Sharp, and we have recorded a goodbye episode to answer questions about my move and recount some of our favorite memories. My deepest thanks to all the GOAT listeners who came to feel like my extended family.
Whether you subscribed to my writing here, listened to the podcast, or both, I hope you’ll follow my work at ESPN. I’m excited for this new chapter because ESPN is the biggest name in sports, they’re fully invested in covering the NBA and WNBA, and they’re loaded with amazing basketball writers, podcasters, and experienced editors. This is a dream job.

Congrats but we need that pod!
ESPN!
Great job Ben. No doubt in my mind you were going to get an offer from a top sports publisher. Super happy for you and will continue to follow you there.
But leaving the Goat?!
Absolute heart breaker. Took so long to get over you two breaking up the Open Floor team. Don't do it to us again😩
